Bush's Glass House

At a GOP fundraiser on Thursday, President Bush accused Democrats of using a new intelligence estimate that ties the war in Iraq to rising extremism to win votes in November, calling them a party of "cut-and-run" obstructionists.

Not to create any "misimpressions" here, but the Democrats are trying to use the GOP's utter failure in the war in Iraq as a reason to convince people they should perhaps vote for them instead.

Meanwhile, Bush is trying to win votes for Republicans in November by applying some "look how big my balls are" logic to suggest that while he wants to torture people with impunity, the candy-assed Democrats would rather have your grandmother die in a fiery suicide blast.

One is an appeal to a real situation and to a real and evident failure. The other is a tawdry appeal to fear and machismo. Which one do you think is worse?
