Overheard From the White House
We do not create terrorism by fighting terrorism.—President Bush, correcting some "misimpressions" during his weekly radio address.
That's true, unless, say, you horribly botch the job, detain huge numbers of people indefinitely without charge, torture them at CIA black sites or local prisons once used for the same purpose by Saddam Hussein, fail to set up a civilian government or provide a military presence that can even minimally protect the civilian population. Or is that just buying into the "enemy's propaganda"?
President Bush would much prefer that we buy into his administration's propaganda instead. Some bargain.
